GREENWOOD HIGH CHESS NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2014

Dhiren Rajesh (Grade 8) becomes the International Rated  chess Player. He got a rating of 1105 in the recent rating  list published by World Chess Federation(FIDE) .

Reetish Padhi (Grade 8) secured 4th Place in the State Under-13 Chess Championship held from 8th  to 10th August 2014 at Bangalore.

Rohan Jaggi (Grade 8) secured 12th place in the tournament.

Adya Singh (Grade 8) secured 5th Place in the State Under-13 Girls Chess Championship.

A total of 236 players from all over karnataka State took part in both the events.

Shraddha Somanath (Grade 1) Secured FIRST place in Blitz chess and SECOND  place in Rapid chess  in the under-7 girls Category of the All India Open International Rated Rapid and Blitz  Chess Tournament held from 15th August to 17th August 2014 at Mall of Mysore, Mysore. One Grandmaster(GM) and 10 International Masters(IM)  took part in this event.

Krishnarao Somanath (K.Somanath) chess Teacher at Greenwood High was awrded the FIDE ARBITER Title by the World Chess Federation. He has  passed the FIDE Arbiter Exam and also completed all the required  Chess Tournament  norms for the Title . His Title application was approved in the World Chess Federation(FIDE) Congress held at Tromso,Norway from 4-14th August 2014. This is his Second World Chess Federation Title. He has already got the National Instructor Title from World Chess Federation  in 2012. This is a life time Title.
